Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
damage to golf cart.
Somebody ran into me on a golf cart. They came to a stop on my foot. I grabbed the cart to remove it from my foot and the front bumper was cracked in the process of lifting it. Now the guy is sending me letters saying I owe him for the repairs to his bumper. Can I be arrested for this if I do not pay it? I would not be worried about criminal charges but the police officer said repeatedly that I was lucky to not be going to jail (that night) and if I get a bill from him I better pay it or the officer would arrest me then. Can I be arrested for this? It happened several months ago.

I am assuming the other party has a different story. Short answer is maybe. More likely you will be facing civil penalties rather than criminal charges.
