my daughter has turned herself in on a violation of probation it's a theift charge in polk county, florida she has been on the run for two years before she turned herself in now what i'm trying to find out is what is she looking at for a sentence
1 Answer from Attorneys
It depends what kind of theft. The degree of the charge will vary based on the amount involved in the original theft or if there are any priors. So for example, if the theft were a theft of something worth $100 or more but less than $300, that is a first degree misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail. If the value were $300 or more but less than $5,000, that is a third degree felony punishable by a maximum of 5 years in prison.
There's no way to say what she is facing without knowing what she was placed on probation for.
