Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Defamation/Lying
I have a soon to be ex-business partner. I have just discovered that he is lying to our current clients by telling them I have stolen all the money. That is not true. How do stop h im? Do I go to the local prosecuting attorney? I can not afford to hire an attorney at this time. What are my options?

Re: Defamation/Lying
Lying is not a crime, so the prosecutor won't be able to do anything. You might consider sending him a "cease and desist" letter telling him to stop lying or you will sue him for slander.
