what does it mean when defendent has waived his right to a speedy trial

Without going into a long dissertation, it basically means that the defendant has waived his statutory to hold the TRIAL within 90 days for a misdemeanor and 175 days for a felony. Speedy trial can also be redemanded but that is a separate issue.
