First Degree Misdemeanor
My husband was recently charged with first degree domestic battery. What exactly are the possibilities for punishment for this charge? Thank you.

Re: First Degree Misdemeanor
The possibilities of punishment are great. In Florida the Legislature requires that Law Enforcement and the State Attorney's Office take these offenses seriously. The idea was to stop the behavioral problem of domestic violence which is a cyclical pattern of violence. Unfortunately, the "net" that they have cast includes any act of violence that is done between family members. Even if victims wish to drop the case, the State Attorney's Office will still go forward with the prosecution if they have additional evidence they can submit to a jury.
