What you have described is a confession by one or both kids.In my experience it is best to do do is damage control immediately but through an attorney. This sends a message to the victim and law enforcement that you and your family are willing to correct any mistakes that might have been made by the two kids. The mailing of the charges doesn't make them less serious. In today world keeping a clean criminal record is very important in order to having a good future in any business.I was in court today working out a plea bargain to have the state attorney dismiss the charges against my client.(different facts-same goal) If you would like to contact me e-mail or call me immediately.(time is not on your side)

I recommend contacting a local private attorney to assist with your sons case. At this point in time, it sounds like the officers have written a report and are in the process of sending the report to the State Attorneys Office. The State Attorney will make a decision to formally file charges. Should you hire an attorney early enough, they may be able to contact the State and discuss the case with them prior to the filing decision. This allows you to have a voice early in the process. Otherwise the State may just read the report, file charges and let the trial attorney sort it out. My firm offers free consultations. If you would like to discuss this case in greater detail, please contact my office in New Smyrna or Orlando.

Yes he needs a lawyer immediately to try and lessen the charges and keep his record clear. Parents cannot really intervene because he is considered an adult. Pls call me if I can be of help, do not wait for charges to be filed.
