Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Details of Restitution

I would like to know if a person has the right to know exactly what the restitution is paying back. For example my friend was charged with theft of electricity. They said he had to pay his back bill, plus the bill of the person whose name was on the service at the time of theft and there estimated use of electricity. the electric bills are now listed on the credit report for collections. How do we find out what the detail of the restitution was for, so we can clear the credit report of the error?

Re: Details of Restitution

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

The terms of the restitution should be spelled out on the final judgment. Go to the courthouse and look at the court file. It should be in there. Your friend had the opportunity to ask at the time of the hearing and either did not or has forgotten.
