Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
is there a difference in having your record expunged or sealed in florida? and if so i want to know if i can have my record sealed so that it doesn't show up on a work background check.. my situation is that i have already served my time and gotten out and turned my life around, attended college and am looking for a job in my career field. i have 4 felonies and i don't want them gone just sealed so my employer cannot see it on a background check.

"Sealing" means that the records are placed in an envelope and sealed with only your name and case number on them. In the computer records, it should say, "record sealed." "Expungement" means the files are physically shredded and the computer records, except in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement database are actually deleted. However, if you did time on a charge, you were probably adjudicated guilty, which means you've lost your right to your once-in-a-lifetime sealing and expungement.
