Disorderly conduct/resist arrest w/o violence
My daughter was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest w/o violence. What can we expect on her court date? Will she do any jail time. She is full time student in community college. First time ever in trouble with law. She is out of jail on bond. Court date is Sept 11 in Leon County

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
If this is your daughter's first offense, it is possible, if not likely, that she will be offered to participate in a diversionary program. If she successfully completes the program, the charges will be nolle prossed (dismissed) and the matter will be finished. It is doubtful that she will ever do any jail time for a first offense of this nature.
On her first court date, the State of Florida will announce the charges and your daughter will be expected to enter her plea of guilty or not guilty. Unless an offer which is acceptable to her has been made, a not guilty plea should be entered.
