In a drug offense where script fraud is involved what happens at a hearing for order to show cause on witnesses and what does the term indirect criminal contempt mean?

It is a somewhat complicated area but the best way to explain is that the hearing is to determine whether or not the witness who was subpoenaed should be held in contempt for failing to appear at a hearing/trial/deposition.
