Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
? on drug theft
I have a roommate that was interviewed and he admitted to taking a few generic lortab for his own arm pain. It happened about 4-5 times. I was just wondering since My roommate lives here in florida with me and by himself, is what is the the law that pertains to stealing about $20 of lortab from his pharmacy??? what could he be faced with? could it be just loosing his job, paying restitution of medication at retail cost to the store, or is there even more critical charges that could be brought on this matter.

Jail time would be the worst case.

The theft of drugs can be a serious charge. Although the dollar amount of the drugs is less than $300.00 and would only qualify as a misdemeanor, hthe friend could be charged with various more serious crimes. Loosing his job or paying restitution is a minor aspect of what he did.
