Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Early termination of probation

Please help! I have been on probation for 4 years and have another 31/2 to go. I have done everything that I had to to and am paid up. My probation officer was going to try to get me off early and now her Supervisor said that they are not submiting any more early terminations. She said that I could hire a lawyer and have them do it for me. She also stated that I would be a good candidate for early termination. I don't have alot of money but I did consult an attorney and he wanted $600.00 up front. Is that the normal fee and could I do it myself?

Re: Early termination of probation

$600 is areasonable amount to charge. However, a motion to modify sentence is a rather simple process so the caliber of your attorney is less important, so you might want to shop around and find one you can afford. If you are really strapped tell the attorney at bottom line price you will pay, if he says no call another one. There are plenty of attorneys to choose from.

Best of luck,

An attorney can file a motion for early termination of probation. Your best bet is to consult with an attorney in your area.
