Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Entering business property

I left an item at my former employeer office. I had a key. I called about to retrieve the item (it was sunday) but was not able to get answer. I still had a key and a security code. I entered the property accompanied by the current employee (even though he was not authorized to be there). Aparently, the security code has expired and Sherif showed up. She talked to us while we were leaving and left. We locked up and left as well. I am very nervous now, becouse I am affraid they will somehow take me to court. What is the worst case that they can do to me?

Thank you very much for your answer!

Re: Entering business property

I suppose you could be charged with burglary, but that charge requires that you were trying to enter with the intent to commit a felony. That would be tough to prove, but you did ask for worst case.

Most likely, if they are going to charge you with anything, it would be trespass, which is a misdemeanor except in rare circumstances (such as where your former office was on a construction site).
