Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

If a person was arrested on hear say and there is no evidence on the crime can the person arrested be convicted. the reason I am asking this question is because my nephew was arrested for sexual molestion but there is no evidence against him and I was wondering if he can be convicted and thrown in prison for this.

Re: evidence
A person cannot be convicted on no evidence. However, if someone says he or she saw him commit the act, that is evidence sufficient for a conviction. Usually, the victim testifies, and that is enough for a jury to find him guilty if it chooses. Your nephew needs a lawyer.
