Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Expungement
I plead no contest to a charge of dealing in stolen property in 1996. The same year I was pulled over on a suspended license and the case was adjudicated guilty. I have had no problems since 1996, I have gone to college (I have 2 bachelors degrees), have been at the same job since 1996 and have basically been a model citizen. When I was charged with dealing in stolen property it was a case of parents trying to teach their kid a lesson, and now I continue to pay for it. I cannot change jobs and I cannot work in the field for which I was trained becasue of this charge. Is there any way to expunge the case, or have the felony charge of dealing in stolen property dropped to a misdemeanor after all this time?

Re: Expungement
The issue is whether you were adjudicated of the felony. If you were adjudicated you can't do anything. If you got a withhold of adj you can petition the court. Call me if I can help.
