Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I am an eye witness to a relatives traffic misdemeanor. I wrote a witness statement showing conflicting stories in 3 police reports. The prosecutor sent me a letter requesting I call them. I feel as if this is unethical. They have my statement in writing ?

There is nothing unethical about a prosecutor wishing to speak with them on the phone. The prosecutor may have questions for you on some things that aren't clear from the written statements alone. Or perhaps the prosecutor wishes to explain how the process works. In any event, either the prosecutor or the defense attorney are allowed to contact you and talk to them. Of course, it would require a subpoena or a court order to force you to appear or to speak.
