Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Failure to Register Vehicle
I had expired temporary tags on my vehicle. I received a ticket for operating an unregistered vehicle. The officer told me that the vehicle was never registered. I went to the DMV that day and they told me that it was registered, I just needed to renew it and get a tag. At my arraignment I plead not quilty because I knew that the vehicle was registered by the dealership, I just had an improper display of tags. But the paper I received after I pled said the charges were failure to register a moter vehicle. I now know that I am guilty of failure to register, because the tags were expired, but 2 weeks. I have a court date in the first week of April and I need to know what I should do and say. Thank you.

Re: Failure to Register Vehicle
Interestingly I just handled this very scenario a few weeks ago in Palm Beach. I presented the State with the proof of registration, license, insurance etc and the State dropped the charges against my client. Assuming your driving record is good, they should do the same for you.
