Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
failu;re to appear warrant
in early 1997 i recieved two tickets for driving under a suspended license. At the time i had forgotten to pay a traffic ticket in tampa.
During the time this was all going on. I was dealing with my husband dying of cancer. I guess i was so upset that i forgot to go to court. sillly huh? In any case a warrant was issued for my arrest. The state also suspended my drivers license.
I left florida and moved to the USVI to start a new life and a new job within a week of his death in march 1997.
it was in moving back to florida in june of 2004 that i discovered my license had been under suspension. The state reinstated the license but toldl me that there was a warrant.
I was told that there is a 7 yr limit on the warrant and that i should just wait. Is this true.? I was advised this by a lady in tallahassee at the dept of motor vehicles. I have not been able to find any reference to a statute of limitations on traffic offenses that were not 'arrainged' in the statutes.. thanks

Re: failu;re to appear warrant
I am not aware of any 7 year rule, and I would not rely on the advice of a dmv clerk. I would contacta criminal defense lawyer in Tampa to nresolve your issues.
