Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My father has a warrant for his arrest for violation of probation from 1996. He has no form of identification and has been hiding for 15 years. He wants to get a state ID but is afraid that he will be arrested if he tries. Can he be arrested if he walks in and tries to get a Florida ID? He is trying to get his social security and work pension so he can hire a lawyer and work out the details of his warrant, but needs ID first. Any ideas?

The DMV does not have a database to look out for warrants. So getting an ID shouldn't be a problem. That doesn't mean that he can't be arrested while there because of some nosy police officer who happens to be there.
