Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Father 47 y/o hispanic (does not know english) truck driver ..currently on probation..was arrested on march 2010 for petty theft at a gas station in this small all-white town in fl . Now I have a 5 min store video which you can see him inside the store and he does not take anything !! either way his company pays for anything he needs for the truck .its not out of his pocket ! makes no sense to take it! long story short he was in jail 2 months his public defender wants him to declare himself guilty he says if we lose he can get up to ten years .I believe his hispanic background and not being able to speak english his not being treated fairly by court

PLEASE HELP WHAT CAN I DO unfortunately cannot hire private attorney

Well, Petit Theft in Florida is a Second Degree Misdemeanor, so the maximum jail he could face is sixty days in jail or one year if the property was worth more than $100. So you should hire your father an attorney if you are concerned he needs representation that will fight for him.
