Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Felony Battery Domestic

I am a 33 yr old female who does not have a record, I've been charged with the above. The victim is my son's father, he has not pressed charges nor has he stated that I was at fault, the police call came from his coworkers who didnt visibly witness any incident but did hear what was being said. Upon my arrest I didnt give a statement and allowed them to arrest me. I was released on R.O.R, but I am worried about the outcome of trial. How far could this case actually go without a statement from the victim or myself? I live in the state of Fl. and am not sure how to approach the whole sitiation, if I give a statement and explain the accident its as if I am giving a self admission when he himself didnt admit that I did anything. How could I be charged with a FELONY crime when the alleged victim claimed that I never assaulted him? The arresting officer tried to tell me that he felt he was arresting the wrong person, that he feels that whatever was done was done in self defense, I figured one or both of us was going to be arrested so being that i was the one in cuffs already I decided keep my mouth shut and face the music. I NEVER imagined it would result in the charges I have!! Where do i begin to seek answers?
