Just because the mother wants to drop charges doesn't mean the state has to drop the charges, so there is no time limit. In fact, oftentimes they proceed anyway especially when it involves family members. The best way to drop the charges, is to hire an attorney to speak on your fiance's behalf with the prosecutor.
