how can i fire public defender and have private one assigned

The law allows you to have an attorney but it does not allow you to pick which attorney you have unless you decide to hire a new one. If you are having a problem with your present public defender, the only thing I can suggest is that you talk to the PD's supervisor. Occassionally, but not always, they may choose to reassign your PD.

You can hire your own attorney at any time. Upon hiring your own lawyer, that attorney will know the process for replacing the Public Defender. If, on the other hand, you're simply trying to get a different PD on your case, you will not have that option.
