Fist offense cocaine poss.

I was arrested for 0.4 grams of cocaine. This is my first offense. I already have an appt for drug counciling and I am trying to go back to school in August. What should I expect when I go to court. Will I face any jail time or probation. Is it possible to have it lowered to a misdemeanor so I wont have a felony on my record?

It would be quite hard to have this dropped down to a misdemeanor as possession of any amount of cocaine is still a felony.

Since you have never been in trouble before you will most likely be eligible for drug court which would result in the charges being dropped if you finish the program.

it would also be a good idea to have an attorney look over the police reports and other information (usually referred to as "Discovery") to make sure that there is not a legal way to make this case go away.
