what can happen to a first time offeneder, no past record, that has been arrested for attempt purchase of crack cocaine?

It depends on many factors, including the jurisdiction in which the arrest occurred,the amount of crack, and the individual prosecutor and judge. You may be sent to drug court, or get some other type of diversionary program. Or, you could get probation or some alternative type of punishment.
