The statute of limitations is 5 years from the date of the last event. In other words if there was continuous theft (Say by continually holding the stolen property) from 2004 until 2010, the clock doesn't start running until Feb. 2010. On ther other hand if the last date of the theft or forgery was Feb. 2004 AND no formal charges have been filed AND you haven't been arrested AND/OR you haven't been served a warrant, then you may be OK. You should talk to an attorney to be sure.
