Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Florida: felony possession drug charge

arrested on 2 counts of possession of prescription medication I had placed in an old bottle in purse. I was also arrested for resisting arrest w/o vio. What precipitated event: picking up 7 mo. old grand daughter due to her mothers arrest for obstructing justice (not telling police whereabouts of my son). The possession charges are unsubstantiated. I have evidentiary documention (copy of original prescription, original prescription bottles, and pharmacy printout of prescribed medication) that will disprove allegations. Is evidence enough to support my claim leading to dropped charges? I don't know if I can have the resisting charge dropped. I resisted because I did not know at time what I was being arrested for. Police stated it was for lunging at an officer which was so far off the mark. Basically, the whole incident took place because they were unable to locate and do a felony arrest on my son (who at the time I did not know his whereabouts) Please help, I cannot afford a defense lawyer, therefore I will have a public attorney appointed to defend me. Last time arrested was 14 years ago, no prison, only 4 months of jail a probation. Thanky you.

Re: Florida: felony possession drug charge

It sounds like you may have a defense to the drug charges, but you'll need a good criminal lawyer to make your defense work. If you beat the drug charges, your resisting arrest will likely be dismissed, since you can't resist a charge that you've beaten.
