Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Florida Statute 772.11
my son was with another boy who was caught shoplifting. My son did not have anything on him when they were stopped at the door. However, the store's lawyers are demanding I pay $200 to drop a civil case. I don't see how they can do this as he didn't actually do anything. No criminal charges were filed against either boy.

You aren't required to pay the money. Wait and see if they actually file the lawsuit. If they do, fight it.
