Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Forgery

My ex-wife forged my signature on an enrollment contract to place my son in a boarding school in Utah without my knowledge (2003-2004). She is now suing me for payment of this tuition. I know this sounds weird but she is expecting me to pay for this. The boarding school's tuition, for one year is $50,000+. She lives in New York. I filed paperwork to prosecute her for this forgery. The charges were dropped in New York because she is claiming she signed these papers in Florida and it is ''Out Of Jurisdiction'' in New York. How do I go about pressing charges against her in Florida? Do I need to travel to Florida to be able to do this?, or can these matters be taken care of via phone,inernet,mail? She has family that lives in Florida, one who actually signed the contract as well, as a witness. She does travel to Florida periodically to visit. My son also will be facing charges in Florida for something he did out there, so she will be going to Florida agian.

You have two separate problems. If she is prosecuted for forgery it wont necessarily release you from the school contract. You would call the state attorney in the county where the forgery happened. A criminal action punishes her, but doesnt do much for you. You need to hire a civil lawyer to handle the contract issue. Your son needs a criminal defense lawyer in the town he was arrested.
