Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Found my car

I had a car that was stolen from me 3 years ago. At the time I was switching plate form New Jersey to Florida. When I came back to put on my Florida plates the car was gone. I tried to report it stolen and the person at the station that answered the phone said since it had no plates it could not be reported stolen. Now three years later I have found the car and its being sold on Craigs list. If I still have the documentation can I retrieve the car?

Re: Found my car

If you have documentation that you own that car, and can identify it by VIN number, you need to contact Craig's list and the police.

The information you got several years ago was erroneous. Just because a car does not have plates does not mean it cannot be stolen. Since it can be stolen, it can therefore be reported stolen.
