Is this Fraud?

I am in the middle of a very nasty divorce. My estranged husband is claiming fraud! We applied for student loans for my son (which is his step-son). He told me to handle it and to sign HIS name to the contract. Which I did. Now he is claiming that I did it w/o his approval. I have a local detective calling me telling me that they are going to issue a warrant for my arrest if I do not go downtown. Can they do this based on his say-so?
