Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Friend who lives in Canada and i rented a car from Enterprise. I was an additional driver. He went back home to Canada and he told me that i can use the car for however long i need it and he'll pay for it. Also, he would be needing it to get around when he comes back to Florida (where i reside) The car contract needs to be renewed after 30 days. When he got back to Florida , we tried to renew contract at the Enterprise location but they said it wasnt due yet. Not for another 3-4 days. My friend had to go back home to Canada and he specifically told rental agent that i i would be handling the renewing of the contract and just use his credit card on file. And that we would need a longer term rental. Enterprise said no problem.. I went on a trip to New York and left the car on a parking lot by the airport that charges daily. When in New York, Ive received messages from Enterprise asking where the car is at. Apparently, my Canadian friend's card they have on file declined. The car hasnt been paid. Told them the location of the car. After a month or two- i started getting this card from a private investigator. He left it 3 different times. Didnt knew who or what it was for. One night my fiance answered the door and spoke with the private investigator. He said that he was looking for me and want to know where the car is at. How do i handle this? Any advice would be really appreciated. This is scary!

Not sure why a PI would be looking unless the car hasn't been returned. It doesn't sound like you had any criminal intent, but you really need to talk to an attorney in your area before you get arrested for this felony.
