Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

My friend has recently been arrested for a warrant on old charges from about two years ago and is on probation. When arrested he was not charged with anything. When he goes to court what will happen?

He may have violated his probation and the warrant was issued. Depending on the violation and the notice to your friend the court can do anthing from re-enroll him in probation up to sentencing him to the amount of time he was facing in the original charge. If was a new case that caused this warrant to issue, then he may also be arrainged on that and the state will make an offer to close out both the new case and the probation violation.

His bond status will depend on the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

It is probably a violation of probation warrant.

What I would do is go to the clerk of court and ask for a copy of the warrant and affidavit in support of violation. Once you read these documents you would be able to see why they are being held.

From there a lot of what happens next will depend on what he is being accused of doing.

Feel free to give me a ring if you would like to chat further; I handle criminal cases in West Palm and would be happy to help for a reasonable fee.

Good luck,
