Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Is my future ruined?
When I was 18 I was arrested for throwing eggs at a car.
I got a withhold of adjudication so I was never convicted.
A month later I was also arrested for driving with a suspended license, but I'm not sure if I got a withhold for that too.
I have finished 2 years of college and I'm wondering if it was a waste of time, seeing as most jobs will check my background.
If so, can I do anything about this or am I helpless?
thank you for your time

No I dont think your future is ruined. Whether you can seal one of those charges depends on the outcome of the DUS. If you were convicted of the DUS you can never seal your record. Good luck

Learning is never a waste of time. Whatever the results of your prior actions, the education you get will help you in your future life.
That being said, you need to do the following:
1. Get copies of the judgement and sentence for each of your convictions, so that you know what you are talking about. You can get these from the clerk of court for the county in which the charges occurred.
2. You need to develop an honest, and understandable explanation for your actions - you will be asked about them, and that is not the time to explain what you did.
3. Finally, you can look at sealing the record for one of the items, but not both. There are a number of variables regarding the sealing or expungement process, and you should talk to an attorney to help you with that. If you are interested, I would be glad to assist you with this process.
Good luck.
