Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My gf and I got in a disagreement this weekend. She threw my phone at my face punched and scratched me numerous times. I did grab her fists and arms to stop her from hitting me but I never struck her. She did fall when she tried to hit me and missed. She filed a police report saying I strangled her. I was arrested. The police report says she has no visible marks on her at all but when I was arrested the police officer reported I was covered in bruises scratches and wounds. I refused to say how I got them as I did not want her arrested. What do I do? I did nothing wrong and I do not want this on my record. Thank you.
1 Answer from Attorneys
It's unclear from your post whether or not you got arrested. However, you need to talk to an attorney right away about keeping this off your record. If you were arrested and your attorney can get it dismissed, then it may be possible (if your eligible) to have the charge expunged from your record. Further, your attorney can advise you about how to deal with the limited information you initially gave in order to protect your girlfriend.
