Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My girlfriend was arrested for grand theft soplifting. She was seen on camera and was arrested days later on a warrant. No merchandise was recovered. How can they prove it was grand theft and not petty theft without recovered merchandise?

A representative from the store can testify to the value of the items taken. Testimony is evidence.

There are several ways to prove what was stolen. Recovering the items would be one way. There may be eyewitnesses who saw what she took. The video might also show what it was. I can think of other ways the prosecutor might be able to prove his case.
Your girlfriend needs a good lawyer right away.
