Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

What good would "under oath" requirement do at the witness stand, when absolute privilege protects a lying witness from being prosecuted? Did I get law wrong? Is oath just ceremonial?

You are incorrect on the law. If a person lies under oath on the witness stand there is no privilege to protect them and they then face perjury charges. It is MUCH more than ceremonial. The court takes it very seriously to the point that a person faces a minimum of 5 years prison (possibly more in capital cases).
