If you have a misdemeanor for domestic violence over ten years ago, are you able to purchase a hand gun?

A misdemeanor conviction does not keep you from having a gun. The only prohibition is if you are on probation for the misdemeanor - which should be long gone.
One cannot possess a gun, of course, if they are a convicted felon. I hope this helps.
