Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

gun ownership in Florida

Hello,

I am in the midst of purchasing a hunting rifle. I had a background check completed by FDLE which was clear. I have never been arrested or had any sort of criminal charges. I was however Baker Acted approximately 5 years ago (one occasion). It had nothing to do with violent or aggressive behavior but resulted from a depressive episode. Currently I work in the capacity of a Director of a Social Services Agency. Would this previous baker Act preclude me from owning a hunting rifle? I have never been declared incompetent or anything of the sort.

A previous Baker Act should not inhibit you from obtaining a hunting rifle. However, if you ever wanted to get a concealed weapons permit or anything of that nature, it might. If you have any issues in obtaining what you want I would be more than happy to review your medical history with you and help out in any way I can. All My Best, Joe Vredevelt
