What would happen to my child, if he is caught stealing from a department store for the first time in florida?

What "would" happen? I believe you meant that she has been caught stealing, and what to do now? I infer that the girl was arrested. In many circumstances, the State may drop the charges if the thief pays a statutory fine of $200. One would have to negotiate with the legal dept. of the store, the state's attorney, and you to get that result. I don't do this for a fee less than $800.
