Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My home was burglarized on Seotember 10, 2011. They arrested two boys ages 14 and 15. They recovered most of the items that were stolen from my home, all except the $200.
One of the boys are well known in the neighborhood for breaking into other peoples homes. Thats how the police knew who he was and where to go search for him. Plus another neighbor saw him in our neighborhood with a backpack they stole from my home.
I recieved a supoena in the mail to go to court on Oct. 10 (one month after the burglery). I showed up to court and found out that the case has been continued. So a week later I get another supoena for Oct. 31st. Now comes to find out the case has been continued again. Now scheduled for November 15. My husband just started a new job that will not allow him to take off another day of work. I have no family here and have no one to watch my 4 children while I go to court. I cant get a hold of the state attorney to tell them my situation and I dont want these kids to get away with this. They damaged my window and cut up the screen to my patio. I would like to get restitution but yet if I dont show to court I know I wont be entitled to it. My husband cant lose his job, either, though. That would leave us with no income to support our children. I dont know what to do now.

You need to write a letter to the State's Attorney. Keep a copy. Send it by registered mail so they have to sign for it. Keep proof of that. In the letter, explain your situation. Ask them to provide you with child care. They should help you. Explain it the same way you did here.
You might also send a letter to the court/judge.
