Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I own my house and let my neice by marriage and her 4 kids live with me for 2 years. She recently moved out and I am comcerned she will come in while I am not home and take things that belong to me. Since she lived here legally until recently, what is my legal remedy? I changed the locks but she once locked herself out of the house and took the glass out of the window in the door with a tire iron. So she knows how to get in without a key. What are my rights under the law if she were to do that?

At a minimum she could be charged with trespass. However, it could also be charged as a felony burglary depending on her intent when she broke it.
