Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
House was recently raided by City PD, Swat, Hazmad, ect... While i was at work. My Roommate and couple buddies were there. Warrant was for meth. lab and methamphetamines. They where for sure there was a huge active meth lab. Which of course nothing to do with or even consider to be component of manufacturing meth. was there. But they immediately striped down, an placed in white hazmad suits, everyone in the house. By this time most every major news station was on seen.(at beginning of a raid) and already reporting confirmed active meth lab, at my residence. plastering video of the guys at resident. Reporting "authority report confirmed active meth lab" Interviewing our neighbors about the meth lab at my residence. Two of friends charged with possesion because baggies of residue in their pockets. My roommate arrest for a past ticket that wasn't paid, and was out that night. Till this day the news still reporting "confirmed active meth lab" Is there anything can done to help set the facts straight. (Even though landlord is evicting, because of the very very publicized raid) So would like to hold them accountable for the false reports given.
1 Answer from Attorneys
Yes there is something you can do: have a trial to prove your innocence. Get an attorney to fight on your behalf. If there is anything slanderous being reported, then you can file a civil suit, but you will need a civil attorney, not a criminal one for that aspect of your potential solutions.
