Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
My husband was pulled over for obstructed tag, it was a company vehicle with a tall trailer hitch, when stopped they asked him to get out of vehicle and told him to put his hands on truck so they could search for weapons. Found meth in pocket, he was arrested. Why does an obstructed tag give them the right to search?

Consult an attorney. There is a case in Florida that says a trailer hitch obstructing a tag does not count under the language of the statute. It is possible that the stop in this case can be suppressed and the case thrown out. There may also be issues related to the search.
