Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

Can inmate appeal if co-hort with same charges got 1 year, he got 15

Situation was created by friends little sister. Little sister was arrested for the exact same charges, except the last one ''flee''. Victims refused to testify as they were not exactly upstanding citizens. DA gets sister to turn states evidence on my friend. Sister got off with probation. Sister arrested 1 yr later felony drug charges, they re-opened this case and gave her 1 year. Gave my friend 15. Same crime. Does he have a chance at an appeal to at least reduce time served?

Unfortunately, just because little sister received lighter sentence does not in itself mean your friend is entitled to a different sentence that he got. Grounds for vacating the conviction could lie in gross miscarriage of justice or ineffective assistance of his counsel. Your only option is to consult an attorney to review and analyze all possible grounds for appealing. This cannot be done via e-mail or short phone conversation.
