Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
I am on Interstate Compact probation for a felony in Lee Co. Florida. I live in Ohio. I was given 5 years probation for a theft charge. I was put on SSDI in 2006, and although I had a P/T job (which I no longer have) and was trying to pay off my restitution, it has not and cannot be paid by the end of my term (Nov 2010). Balance due is around $6000. What can I do??

You should contact an attorney in Lee county and see if they could do a motion to either convert your restitution to a lien or extend your probation. However, if this was a third degree felony, the judge can not extend probation and can only do a lien or revoke probation and sentence you to jail/prison. Thus the need for an attorney.
