Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

interstate compact

my son just received parole. He was planning on moving to Albany NY to work and has a house with his fiance. His po was going to start paperwork to accomplish this. All of the sudden, after the appointment, he called and said that Tallahassee would not even give permission for him to apply to move, unless he was reuniting with an immediate family member there. Are there any exceptions to this rule and I am wondering why his po did not know this rule, or if he was just pulling his chain. Do he and his fiance have to get married for him to get clearance to move? He has a job already lined up, her father is willing to assist in his ability to keep his supervision, and they have a residence now. any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: interstate compact

Some of it is going to matter what type of charge he is on parole for. If we are talking that he was in prison and got parole, that is different than probation. Some states don't accept certain types of crimes or you have to plea a specific way to have probation transferred. On parole, it is a lot different. If parole says you cannot transfer there is not a whole lot you can do. Best is to find out why no transfer from PO and see if there is a modification that can be done in front of Judge or hearing officer.
