Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida

I have an issue where we are having problems with our next-door neighbor. Her daughter is a couple of years older than ours and she is always starting trouble so we have forbid our daughter to have anything to do with her and ever since we have done this there has been nothing but trouble.

It started out with someone turning our water hoses on and leaving it running. This happened 4 times in a week and caused our water bill to go from 60.00 to well over 100.00. Then it escalated to them cutting the hoses up into little pieces (2 different sets). After that the vandalized my truck by putting dog feces on the air intake of my truck. During all of this, the doorbell has been rung at all hours of the night. The young girl has come into my driveway and stood nose to nose with me and cursed me worse than any sailor ever has with her mother standing right there.

We have talked to the parent and all she has done is argue and try to start more trouble. We have contacted the police 3 separate times. She has caused problems for half the people in the neighborhood and there seems to be nothing that can be done about this. I hate having to live like a prisoner in my own home. My kids cannot play in the street because it seems to cause problems.

Last night I caught the kids after the first time they rang the doorbell. After they rang it the first time I went out my back door and stood in the back and watched. I caught them coming over into my yard so I went to the front of my house and ran the little girl off. She started yelling and cursing at me and she was on my property. I called the police and once again I was told that there was nothing that could be done and the officer refused to even go talk to them because it was late at night when not 15 mins prior they were ringing my doorbell.

Please what can I do?

You should talk to an attorney about filing a civil suit against the family for their childs harassment. Or contact iternal affairs at the police department about the officer's failure to pursue charges.
