Legal Question in Criminal Law in Florida
Iwas arrested for taking and rehoming two mini horses that were off there property. because they were starving them, I was charged with Grand Theft, I did not sale them I gave them to a rescue person. they have there ponys back so they can finish starving them. Would it do any good to go to state att. and try to see if they will not pick up charges, and carry statments from witness's. I haven't been to arrainment yet. I consalted with an att. and he said he could do this for a fee, so why can't I do this and see what happens and if it dosen't then go get an att.
1 Answer from Attorneys
The reason is because the attorney went to seven years of college and presumably has experience in this such that he can defend you. An attorney knows which legal issues to look for. While you may be good at explaining the story, your attorney should be good at examining and more importantly using the legal issues to help your case. This is Grand Theft which means you could do up to 5 years prison. Sure you can try it yourself but have you ever seen a doctor operate on himself just because he knows how to do it. Of course not. The question you need to ask yourself is: While I'm sitting in here in this jail for something I didn't do, why didn't I hire an attorney?
