Jail time for embezzlement

I am 34 years old and make a big mistake 1 1/2 years ago for period of time over about 6 months. I embezzled about 7800.00 from my employer. I have not been found out and have been working there for 8 years. I am living with the guilt daily and want to fix it someway. I have three children and want to sell my house and get he profit to pay the employer back with interest but he does not know what I did. I want to stay working there while I sell my home and then want to come clean. What kind of jail time am I looking at with this crime of my life.

Re: Jail time for embezzlement

You are a very noble person to take this step. There will likely be no jail time, nor even prosecution if you handle this well. Get an attorney to draft up a "no prosecution" agreement and a "release" before you discuss this with your employer.I believe the employer would be impressed by your repentance and glad to receive the money. Maybe you could get a loan and fund this before you lose this valuable advantage. HOW it's handled will make all the difference. DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS ON THE INTERNET.
